This quiz was very interesting I really liked it. I liked that it was interactive and that you got instant feedback on the answer when you hit submit. I think that will help students retain more because they know what they did wrong right away and can read the summary. The only suggestion that I have for you is to give the students more of a description of what you wanted them to write about. I struggled to write down statements because I did not know if you wanted opinion, past knowledge, or just what I learned off the quiz.

    Overall nice job!

It will not let me post my document because it is saying that it contains adult content.

  2. This was a very good quiz, I just would have added a follow up with the quiz that kids took to either another website where you can learn a little bit more about sexual orientation. You just needed to add a little more to this lesson but nice job.

The same thing with mine happend to Molly's it saying it will not post due to adult content.

  3. This lesson was good. I would have liked it if there were more questions to the quiz because I felt like ten questions is a little short. The quiz itself was good. Very informative. Maybe having the students do a short reflection about what they learned and what it means to them would be a good supplement to add to this lesson.

I really liked the website that was used in this. I would have encouraged students to look around the site after. I used this website in high school for my health class and I found it to be very informative and definitely catered to this age group.

    Good lesson!

My docstoc account is saying I have an incorrect password, and I am waiting for the email to be sent to my email for over an hour. I will look back at it later.

  4. I think the quiz is good as an introduction to a unit. If it was used as a lesson within the unit I agree to prvious statements saying it needs some type of follow-up or a pre-requisite reading assignment.

    1. As with many things, sexual orientation is a result of numerous factors
    2. Sexual orientation does not describe your behaviors, but rather describes your personal preference.
    3. Heterogenitoamorous is just a made up word
    4. Simply stated, you can’t change someone’s sexual orientation.
    5. Self explanatory, questioning sexuality.
    6. Sexual questioning is common and normal.
    7. I have never heard of “bisexual chic” but I had a lucky guess.
    8. Fantasy is not reality. Also see question 5 and 6.
    9. Again see question 5 and 6. Also, where the term “coming out” comes from.
    10. It is politically correct to say GLBT. Most other terms have been used and understood as derogatory.

  5. 1. C a complex web on different factors. I chose this answer because from what I have learned in human sexuality, there was not one specific factor that causes sexual orientation. As a matter of fact, no one really knows how sexual orientation is determined.
    2. False. Just like the explanation says, people have had sexual behaviors beyond their sexual orientation. For example, a gay man can still have sex with a woman, or not engage in sexual activity at all.
    3. B most people try not to use a specific word to determine their sexual preference because not every term may apply to them. Some people just prefer to not use terms to label themselves.
    4. False, no one can really chance their sexual orientation. There are no therapies that can change how Mother Nature intended you to be.
    5. B sexual questioning can occur in many individuals. People become curious at times and may feel the need to question their orientation because or environmental factors.
    6. A, people may question their sexual identification because of all the changed they are experiencing before puberty. As you know, there are a lot of hormones flying around during that age but just because someone questions their identification, does not mean they will determine their orientation because of it.
    8. Fantasy is totally different from reality, and it does not reflect how you act or feel.
    9. coming out is a term used for when people publicly come out as a homosexual.
    10. GLBT is correct while other terms such as "fag" is derogatory.

I really liked this lesson because it has the students take a quiz to see what they knew about this subject while informing them further after the correct answer was shown. I like it because if the student already knows the answer they can move on, but if they get it wrong they are able to get educated on the right answer.

  6. I thought the quiz was pretty good. Some of the questions were very simple and would only take common sense rather than the students needing to read in order to know the answer. I think that there should be more questions rather than just ten.I also think that instead of writing a sentence or two about the question, students should maybe reflect on the whole quiz, what they read , or even some things that they learned. Overall i really like the idea of having the quiz just there should be a couple of adjustments. Nice Job though.

  7. I got the inappropriate content too.

1.This answer does not surprise me because I realize that there are many different cultures that people grow up in and there is no exact possible way to test and see if there is a specific genetic code for orientation.

    2. I believe that there are many different types of sexual behavior and it is what it is. It doesn’t matter what one’s orientation is, sexual behavior just involves how one acts.

    3. I had heard the other terms before, which is how I came to this conclusion. It also was the most outrageous looking term that when I was trying to break it apart, I could not make any sense of it.

    4. I do not see how it is possible to completely change one’s sexual orientation with any type of therapy. This would be to have the person deny who they truly are.

5.It would make sense that many people questioning their sexuality would go through a period of time where they would not be sure of their orientation.

    6. I believe this makes sense because people are discovering and experimenting with their sexuality and sexual experiences.

    8. I believe that people can fantasize about whatever they want to be this does not mean that they have a sexual preference for any specific gender.

    9. Many people have engaged in relationships before they realize that they are homosexual. Also many people are curious and like to experiment with different genders.

    10. This is a little surprising to me because I thought the appropriate term would have been homosexual. This does make sense because that term has more of a medical association and even a growing negative connotation coming with it.

  8. Mike, I really liked this assignment and I think that if it is actually used in a classroom of middle schoolers it would be both affective and effective and I liked that it gave an explanation at the end. Great work man.

    1. (My answer- C) C- As learned in Human Sex, scientists cannot find one factor that determines a person's sexuality. We know of a variety of different theories but we do not however know the main factor.

    2. (My answer- False) False- As also learned in Human Sex, sexual orientation doesn't necessarily determine a person's sexual behavior. For example, someone who says that they are gay may never have actually had gay relations.

    3. (My answer- A) B- Homoflexible and Pansexual have similar meaning to bisexualism and Polyamorous means more than one partner.

    4. (My answer- False) False- You simply cannot change how you feel.

    5. (My answer- B) B- In my opinion, everyone goes through this at one time or another to some degree, and it is when they question their sexuality.

    6. (My answer- A) A- It tends to happen around puberty when the hormones are raging.

    8. (my answer- A) A- Fantasies and relaity are to different things. Thinking and doing are not very relivent.

    9. (My answer- A) A- Yes because gay people can have straight relationships, so straight people can engage in gay relationships.

    10. (My answer- C) C- Homosexual is the same thing as calling someone who has a disability handicapped. And queer is the same thing as calling a black person the N word.

  9. I really liked this assignement and thought that the quiz was a great idea. The web site was geared towards teenagers and if you had them explore the site, they would learn a little more as well. Some of the things were pretty cool. Also, I liked how the test told you the correct answer right away and explained why the answer was correct. In addition, i thought it was good that you had the students put the right answer and then copy them with the reason. However, you might want to have them apply the knowelege that they collected becuase you can just copy and paste it on paper. Have them write a letter to a friend or parent or something with the knowleged they gained.

  10. I thought the assignment was visually appealing and "cool" for high school students. I think that the instant explaination was helpful to give feedback on the spot so students knew exactly if and when the questions were correct. This might be a nice assignment to do as a pre and post test for a unit. I think that the assignment was very easy to follow, short, and sweet. Nice work!
